Life at Aston University Sixth Form is based around independence, responsibility and respect. It is a thriving community with a strong feeling of togetherness and team work between students and teachers alike. A reflection of this is the appointment of a Student Leadership Team led by our Senior Students within the Sixth Form.
Sixth Form Life at Aston University.
There are numerous opportunities for our students to develop their character and personal skills beside their academic journey. We are strong contenders in various national STEM competitions such as Formula 1 and Royal Navy Field Gun Challenge.
Also popular within the Sixth Form are activities and trips such as the Duke of Edinburgh, Honduras rainforest, Talent Shows and exclusive use of the sports facilities (including gym and spa) at Aston University. We also have a dedicated football and basketball team who regularly compete against other Colleges, Sixth Forms and Clubs.
Fundraising activities are encouraged at AU Sixth Form and students regularly organise and volunteer their services in order to raise money for different charities. The Student Leadership Team have led such events and have managed to raise an impressive sum of money for charities such as Children in Need, Sport Relief and Macmillan. Recently Sixth Form students led the fundraising for Comic Relief, which was topped off with a fantastic showcase of student talent. A huge £1300 was raised.
Student Leadership.
Being a role model is one of our core capacities. Consequently we look to provide key leadership opportunities for sixth form students, including; mentoring, sports leaderships, prefects, leading teams for national competition and supporting projects.
We also have a dedicated student leadership board. This team including Executive head boy and girl, support the staff leadership team, and members sit on the academy governing board of directors.
