Critical Worker / Vulnerable Student Provision

AUEA is open to all students of Critical Workers or those identified as Vulnerable. This includes students who are unable to access remote learning from home. Provision is within our Learning Development Centre. Students will be provided with their own IT access, and they will follow the same online remote learning timetable as their peers. Learner Development staff and teaching assistants are available to support learners during the day. All students attending the provision will have access to a free cooked lunch.

Places must be booked on this provision via contacting ruth.acton@auea.co.uk and must be done by 2pm the day before (or Friday for the Monday session)

Students must participate in our twice-weekly Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs) (Please see section below for more information on AUEA's LFTs).

Student return to AUEA

We are delighted to have students returning to AUEA from 8th March 2020. To enable this effective safe return including the mass testing programme, we have been required to stagger the return of year groups over the subsequent two weeks. Please find below the timetable for this return. All online lessons will continue for your child up to their point of return. Please also find below the Lateral Flow test - First Test Programme. This explains when your child should come into AUEA for their first test. Please note that on this day they will just attend AUEA for the test and then go home. All students require consent, either parental (for under 18's) or self consent. Both require a completed form which can be completed via this link: AUEA LFT Consent Form

Lateral Flow Tests

AUEA now has a Lateral Flow Test centre, located on the ground floor of AUEA. This is for students and staff only. The Lateral Flow Test is a 30-minute results test that is used to indicate whether someone may have COVID-19 especially those asymptomatic (i.e. have no symptoms). Please note this is not a COVID-19 test. To see our test centre and to understand how the test works please watch this video of our Principal Daniel Locke-Wheaton completing the test.

In a secondary school, if a Lateral Flow Test is positive the positive case and their bubble/ close contacts must isolate for 10 days. A PCR test is not needed if the LFT is positive.
